Boynton Guns is proud to be the first gun shop in Florida to join The Armory Project (TAP).

The Armory Project helps prevent firearm suicides by making it easier for individuals and families to temporarily store firearms safely outside the home during times of crisis. TAP works with trusted community partners, like Boynton Guns, to create time and distance between a person experiencing a suicidal crisis and access to a firearm.

Firearms are the most common and most lethal means of suicide. Research shows that increasing the time and distance between someone in crisis and a firearm can reduce the risk of a fatal outcome. Suicidal crises can also be brief—often lasting only minutes. Creating a barrier to immediate access can provide valuable time for the crisis to pass and for help to reach the person who needs it.

Veterans and service members can be particularly affected. They own firearms at higher rates than the general population and often have extensive familiarity and training with firearms. For Veterans, firearms are the most commonly used means of suicide and are highly lethal.

At Boynton Guns, we believe responsible firearm ownership includes taking thoughtful steps to protect ourselves, our families, and our community. Safe, temporary firearm storage can be one of those steps.

Voluntary, Confidential & Community-Based

Participating in The Armory Project is completely voluntary. It is designed to provide a safe, practical option for firearm owners who want to temporarily store their firearms outside the home during a time of concern or crisis.

This is not a “red flag” process. Voluntary firearm storage through participating partners is not intended to involve law enforcement or trigger a red-flag order. The goal is simply to provide a trusted, out-of-home storage option that creates time and distance during a potentially dangerous moment.
